A PMS Winter

Brrr...it is getting cold outside and that white stuff keeps showing up on the ground.  We haven't accumulated any snow yet, but we have a had a couple of mornings where it looks so pretty outside...it just melts by the end of the day!  Guess that is not all bad.

Snow One Should Miss a Blog Hop

It is that special time again...time for a Paper Makeup Stamps Blog Hop!  I love the new release Blog Hops...the sight of new stamps just make me happy!!

It's a Monster Mash with a Little Football!

Alright so I am not feeling especially chatty right now...a cold has been making its way through my family and apparently it might be my turn.  Ugh!  I was really hoping I was going to escape this one.  Unfortunately, my poor daughter has gotten all of them!!  So I will keep this short and sweet.

As for me, I used the Football Fan Monster.  My layout is from the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #209.  The monster had to wear Maize and Blue in honor of my Michigan Wolverines!  Then I created my little football field...which I love how it turned out!

A Blog Hop for a Cutie

It is time for a Paper Makeup Stamps Blog Hop and this month's theme is Oldies But Goodies!  Since I am the first stop on the Hop past the PMS Blog, you are in the right spot!  But do make sure to check out the PMS Blog for all of the details on the prizes to be won!


I pulled out an oldie that hadn't seen any ink yet...one of the Retro Cutie Critters: Lucy Mouse.  She is all dressed up (purse and all) and ready to go!  I actually didn't use a sketch for this card (I know, I gasped too!), but then again my layout is pretty basic.  But sometimes simplicity is the key.  Lucy was stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black on watercolor paper and then I watercolored her with ink pads and an aquabrush.  The pattern paper is from a very long retired Bali Breeze from Stampin' Up! The sentiment is from the Cutie Critter Sayings that perfectly matches some of the Retro Cutie Critters...I think it is about time to add an addition to the sayings for the new critters!  The color choice comes from the current Color Throwdown Challenge #153.

July Paper Makeup Stamps Blog Hop

Well I am trying to write this post very late at night as having to make this card kind of snuck up on me...I always hate trying to make a card, photograph it, and post it in the same night.  Always makes for a very late night.  So since it is late, not much chatter for you.  I do still have a couple of posts coming that I hope will be of interest.  But until then, let's get to this Blog Hop!

I used one of the new silhouettes: Emma Silhouette for my card.  I went for the "Joseph Dreamcoat Technique"...at least that is what I think it is called.  Anyway, I scribbled markers on a piece of Iridescent Cryogen White cardstock from Paper Temptress.  Then I stamped and clear embossed my silhouette over top of my scribbles.  Then I brayered black over top a bunch of times and finally wiped any ink that was on the embossed image.  Kind of fun!  I love how the sparkle from the Cryogen White cardstock still shines through embossing and brayering.  The layout is from the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #198 and the color combo is from the SCS Color Challenge #330.

Celebrating Someone Special

It is always fun to celebrate someone's birthday...and even more fun when it is filled with lots of inspiration! Today a bunch of us have gotten together to celebrate Katie Cotton's birthday (owner of Paper Makeup Stamps and colorer extraordinaire).  Since I am trying to type this while camping...and late at that, I will have to fill in all of the details at a later time.  Ok I somehow messed up the whole publish from a mobile device thing...it published, but now is nowhere to be found!  Hope you guys don't mind me recycling a card I made a very long time ago...using ones of my favorite PMS Stamps...Penelope!

It's a Quixotic Blog Hop

Time for Some Summer

So are your kids out for summer yet?  My son does not get out until the 21st...crazy!  It will feel like a lot of summer is gone by then...although that is the first day of summer technically...so I guess we won't miss anything then!

How about a little summer inspiration?  Summer inspiration in the form of a Paper Makeup Stamps Blog Hop!  Sounds like fun, right?  You should be arriving from the ever sweet, Lisa M.  If not, make sure you start at the beginning at the PMS Blog.

This card is a Clean and Simple (CAS) card based on a sketch from a Paper Crafts call.  Why is it that CAS cards can be the most time consuming?!  I had to create this card like three times before it turned out.  That hurt too because it is obviously a one layer card...so I threw away a whole card each time...ugh!  Anyway it uses the still-awesome-always-going-to-love-it Dandy Wishes set from PMS.  The large and small silhouettes were embossed in black with my edges masked with Post-It notes.  Then I brayered ink over top, removed the masks, stamped my sentiment,and drew the black border.  Wow that made it sound so easy...guess easier said than done!

Sprouting a PMS Blog Hop

So have you been enjoying the sneaks at the May Paper Makeup Stamps Release! So many great ones...I haven't had a chance to play with everything yet! You should be arriving to my blog from the lovely, Christi (isn't Lars just the cutest little boy fairy ever!), but if you didn't, never fear, you can start at the PMS Blog so you don't miss a bit of the wonderful creations!

I used the CPS Sketch Challenge #216 for my layout. Not sure if it was the simplicity of the layout or if I just did this one too late at night, but I kept this one really simple...hopefully simple and not boring! So you know how silhouettes seem to be all the rage right now (in case you missed it, silhouettes are popping up everywhere!)...so PMS decided to put their own spin on the silhouette with a couple of fairy silhouettes. Sprout (shown here) and Kirsten were turned into silhouettes...which are a little smaller than their normal counterparts.

Feelin' Like Spring...Maybe!

Welcome to the Paper Makeup Stamps Spring themed Blog Hop! Did you come here from the amazing Dawn? If not, make sure you head back to the PMS Blog to start from the beginning.

In looking through my growing PMS collection, I didn't feel I had anything that screamed spring...so I went for a birthday card with some "springy" paper. But now looking at the color scheme, I am not so sure this screams spring either! Oh well!

I stamped the Birthday Lauren fairy and then traced around her with a silver gel pen. Then I drew the line around her and added the sentiment. Finally, I paper pieced the present. Kept it simple...maybe too simple! Again oh well!

Hopping with Some Dreams

So what is your dream? Dreams are hard for me...I am too much of a realist and I am always thinking about how said dream is difficult and unlikely. My husband on the other had is a big dreamer and I have to be very careful not to squash his dreams. My current dream is to find a way for my paper-crafting hobby to become a job (down the line when the kids are both in school full time), but my realist side isn't allowing the dreamer to think about what that might look like. Wow that was a little much for Blog Hop...sorry about that!

So this beautiful quote is what sparked my major self-reflection above. And it is a quote from one of my favorites, Walt Disney...I was the hugest Mickey Mouse fan when I was in High School and College...still am a fan, but I don't have any rooms decorated with Mickey right now. The colors for this card were inspired by the Paper Crafts Color Challenge #2. The stamp was colored directly with markers to get the words in different colors...oh and since I used markers, this qualifies for the Moxie Fab World Stamping with Markers Challenge!

Things We Love Blog Hop

Ok I am back...back to reality...back to the blog...back to some stamping! I had a fantastic weekend scrappin' with my friends. We stayed up way too late both Friday and Saturday nights, talked a whole bunch, drank a little, and actually got some scrapbooking done! It was perfect (thanks for a great weekend girls!!).

But the main reason for my post today is Paper Makeup Stamps is turning 2!! That is right, we are celebrating PMS 2nd anniversary and couldn't be happier about it. And since we love PMS (Paper Makeup Stamps that is...hehe), we decided to have a "Things We Love" Blog Hop in honor of the anniversary!

But this hop is better than usual...the design team was asked to invite one friend to join us on the Hop. So you get to see lots of fantastic creations with Paper Makeup Stamps. To make sure you don't miss anything, make sure you start at the PMS Blog (there is a Master List there just in case you have issues hopping along).

So for my contribution to the "Things We Love" theme...I love flowers...the real ones...that make you put your nose to them so you can inhale that sweet aroma. And it appears that Caliope feels the same way! He (well I am guessing he is a "he") is one of the adorable monsters at Paper Makeup Stamps and he just can't himself from smelling that flower!

I tend to need cards 3 at a time (weird I know), so I did a Triple Play like I have done in the past and made three cards with basically the same supplies and three different layouts. Caliope was stamped and watercolored (with an aquabrush and ink pads) to match the plaid pattern paper from the High School Mat Stack by DCWV.

December Fan Club Blog Hop - Holiday Style

So this is the beginning of a fun new event for Paper Makeup Stamps. Since Katie, the owner, decided to switch to every other month releases, she decided that we just cannot let a month go by without a Blog Hop. The catch is that it is not just the design team, but some of the PMS Fans as well! How fun! So you should be arriving to my blog from Michelle McDaniel's Blog (awesome huh?!). If not, make sure you start at the beginning at the PMS Blog so you don't miss anything! As a precaution you can use the Link List below if there are any issues. For my card, I used the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #85 for my layout. I used the Moody for Presents (by PMS of course) and stamped her in Whisper White craft ink and embossed it with Crystal Clear embossing powder on Crumb Cake cardstock. Then I colored her with Bravo Burgundy, Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, and Whisper White ink and an aquabrush. Had a heck of time with he eyes...the white outline or something was just not making it easy on me...so sorry they suck a little!

She was cut out with Oval Nestabilities and layered on top of a Labels 16 die cut of Chocolate Chip cardstock. The pattern paper is from the Christmas Chestnut Soup on Kraft Collection by Jillibean Soup. The final details were some sponging, paper piercing, the white taffeta ribbon, and a couple of snowflakes.
