Love Bunnies

This post is going up significantly later than I had planned. See I created this card Friday night and went to bed with the feeling that I was starting to get a sore throat. Lo and behold, I woke up Saturday morning with a fever, body aches, monster sore throat, and a horrible headache. This continued through Sunday causing me to miss Easter. Yes, I missed Easter! I managed to get out of bed long enough to see the kids find their Easter baskets, and take pictures of them dressed for church, but otherwise I pretty laid in bed all day! Finally made it to the doctors on Monday, so I have medicine now, but the darn sore throat is just not going away! So bad that it is hard to find anything I can eat without pain...and this is which pain medicine from the doctor! Ugh! Anyway that is my sob story and hence why this post is late!

See it is late because I wanted to get it posted at the beginning of the Card Patterns Sketch Challenge #112 because Paper Makeup Stamps is the sponsor of the challenge! So make sure to join in the fun and get a chance to win a gift certificate to PMS!

I pulled out Billy & Bianca the adorable love bunnies from the Retro Cutie Critters line at Paper Makeup Stamps. I got my paper for my new design team, Paper Temptress, and just had to try some out. So I stamped them on the Beargrass Glimmer paper...it has a beautiful shimmer to it that you can see in the detail shot. I embossed the image and then watercolored it with markers/ink pads and an aquabrush. It worked beautifully and maintained that beautiful shimmer even under the watercoloring. Can't wait to work more with all of my paper from Paper Temptress! The sentiment is from the Verve Anniversary Birds set.

So make sure you check out what the Card Patterns Design Team created and link up your creation to join in and have a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the Paper Makeup Stamps store! Thinking healthy thoughts and thanks for checking out my kind of engineering!

Birthday Owl

Look at me I am totally on fire with this stamping stuff...I mean two cards in two days! Whew! Actually I did them in the same night, but I am still impressed with myself. But I just had to play along today for a couple of reasons. Today is a special day because 1) Paper Makeup Stamps is sponsoring the Saturday Sketch Challenge (and by participating you have a chance to win a gift certificate to PMS...woohoo!) and 2) a little birdie (maybe this cutie owl from Paper Makeup Stamps) told me that it was Lisa Kind's birthday, so the girls at My Time Made Easy decided to put together a Birthday Blog Hop in her honor! Happy Birthday Lisa! Hope that your day is fabulous!!

I once again tried to get my Diva on and made another card for the "Get Your Diva On" Verve Stamps Challenge. But this time I swapped out one of the elements...don't worry they said it was allowed. So, again, hi my name is Andrea and my card must contain 1) blue, yellow, and cream, 2) have 3 layers or be square and 3) have flowers, ribbon, and eyelets which I switched to twine, buttons, and brads from one of the other recipes.

I wasn't in the mood for a ton of coloring and a needed a masculine birthday card, so I pulled out Mr. Webster the Owl and matching sentiment from the Cutie Critters Sayings set from Paper Makeup Stamps and colored the stamp directly with markers. Then after it was stamped I filled in some areas with an aquabrush, dragging the colors out from the lines. This card has a lot of brown which I considered a neutral...maybe I kind of negated the color scheme by using so much. Oh well!

So now you should jump over to Lisa Kind's Blog and wish her a Happy Birthday (and check out the other birthday creations!) and definitely participate in the Sketch Saturday Challenge #151 (and make sure you link it up to that site) so you could have a chance to win a gift certificate to PMS...you know you want that cute owl! Thanks for checking out my kind of engineering!

Flower Birthday

Is it finally spring? I think we are there now...but that of course brings rain and I am not so sure I like how that mixes with the start of soccer for my son. His first game is tomorrow and it is totally going to rain...and I am pretty sure it only gets canceled if it is lightning. Not sure how it will go if it isn't canceled...we will see. But at least it isn't snow coming down! A little more warmth would be good, but I am trying to be patient.

So I finally got to stamp after a bit of a hiatus as my family went on a trip to Chicago during my son's Spring Break. We had a great time and the kids did great, but I am realizing it has been awhile since I was in my stamping area! So I decided to jump in with the "Get Your Diva On" Verve Stamps challenge. It was a recipe challenge...your recipe is determined by your first name. So hi, my name is Andrea and I need to make a card that is 1) blue, yellow, and cream, 2) has flowers, eyelets and ribbon, and 3) is square shape or has 3 layers. Check, check, and check.

Went for a couple of blues with Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze and I think it technically has more than 3 layers, but it is square so I am good on either way you look at it! It was kind of weird to pull out the eyelets...haven't used them in awhile. Nothing to crazy here so I won't bore you with specifics...ingredient list below!

Here's hoping for lightning in the morning so I don't have to watch Kindergarten soccer in the rain!! Thanks for checking out my kind of engineering!

Feelin' Like Spring...Maybe!

Welcome to the Paper Makeup Stamps Spring themed Blog Hop! Did you come here from the amazing Dawn? If not, make sure you head back to the PMS Blog to start from the beginning.

In looking through my growing PMS collection, I didn't feel I had anything that screamed spring...so I went for a birthday card with some "springy" paper. But now looking at the color scheme, I am not so sure this screams spring either! Oh well!

I stamped the Birthday Lauren fairy and then traced around her with a silver gel pen. Then I drew the line around her and added the sentiment. Finally, I paper pieced the present. Kept it simple...maybe too simple! Again oh well!

So now you should be heading off to Christi S. Enjoy the hop and hopefully it makes you feel like spring (cuz' around here it sure doesn't feel like it yet)! Oh and take advantage of the Inventory Sale (details on the PMS Blog)...hint Birthday Lauren is one of the ones on sale! Thanks for checking out my kind of engineering!
